DEWALT Racing’s Scott Pye placed 12th in Race 28 of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship at The Bend.

After qualifying ninth, Pye held position on the start before taking two tyres in his compulsory stop on Lap 9 and again holding his effective race position.

Pye didn’t have the pace to move forward after his stop, as late stoppers Jamie Whincup and Chaz Mostert rejoined ahead of him as the DEWALT Commodore crossed the finish line in 12th.

Pye and the DEWALT Racing Commodore return to action tomorrow with back-to-back qualifying from 9:10am ACST. Race 29 will commence at 11:50pm and Race 30 from 2:20pm, live on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo Sports.

“It was a tricky race today,” said Pye.

“We qualified ok in ninth, but in the race we just didn’t quite the pace to move forward.

“The tyre life was ok, we just weren’t quick enough overall.

“We’ll tune it up tonight and go again tomorrow.

“I’m still feeling confident, even though we qualified better we still have more outright speed to find, we pitted early but our pace at the end wasn’t too bad.”
