The Repco Supercars Championship has revealed a revised schedule for the remainder of the 2021 season.

The next event of the championship will now be held at Winton Motor Raceway on the first weekend of October.

Following the postponement of the scheduled round in May due to Victoria’s lockdown situation, the regional Victorian circuit is set to host the eighth round of the season after an 11-week break since the Townsville double-header.

The championship will have another event three weeks later, with further announcements to be made regarding its location, which will serve as the prelude to this year’s Bathurst 1000 on the first weekend of November.

The Great Race will be held in November for the first time since 2000, having been pushed back from its usual October date due to New South Wales’ current lockdown period.

New South Wales is set for a big month of motorsport in November, with the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperSprint two weeks later.

The final round of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship retains its schedule date, with the season concluding at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 on December 3-5.

For the meantime, attention now turns to Cash Converters ESeries, with main game Supercars drivers set to taking on elite gamers over six rounds of sim-racing from 25 August.

The Supercars ESeries, which was a highlight of the 2020 season, will be broadcast live on Foxtel, streamed on Kayo and 7plus, and available on the Supercars Facebook and YouTube Pages.

Team 18 still has a single test day in its allocation for the season, and will evaluate their options for when their final test day will take place prior to the Bathurst 1000.

Team 18’s focus remains on continuing their progress in the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship with IRWIN Racing’s Mark Winterbottom and DEWALT Racing’s Scott Pye, and will look ahead for the return to racing at the Winton SuperSprint on 2-3 October.

Charlie Schwerkolt, Owner – Team 18

“It’s great that the question of when and where we’d be racing next has been answered and for the teams and the fans to see what the rest of the Supercars year will look like,” said Charlie Schwerkolt.

“I think moving the date back for Bathurst was sensible in the current climate.

“It’s our most iconic motorsport event and the one race where Supercars is in the spotlight of the whole country. It’s crucial for the championship to see the Bathurst 1000 in the greatest light for our sponsors, for the fans at the track and the worldwide television audience.

“Credit is due to Supercars for their efforts behind the scenes to give these events the best chance of success and making these decisions to ensure we can put on the best events for the fans.

“The interest in the sport remains at such a high, with fans back trackside, sponsors activating and corporate hospitality areas full of supporters.

“It’s great for us and the rest of the Victorian teams that we’ll return to racing here in Victoria with a round at Winton.

“We have a couple of months to regroup and prepare for a busy finish to the championship.

“We have done seven events in six months and then we’ll have five rounds in two months to finish off the year, it certainly crams everything in which will create a lot of pressure for the teams.

“It will be a logistical and operational challenge to ensure the teams are well equipped with rotating spare parts and servicing essential components between each event.

“So there will be plenty of work to get everything prepared and for the teams to keep fit and keep the momentum going, it’s going to be a big end to the year.”
